Nyíregyháza

Nyíregyháza ( [ ɲi ː ː rɛɟha zɒ ] ) is the county seat of the Hungarian Szabolcs -Szatmár -Bereg county in northeastern Hungary. The city has about 120,000 inhabitants, making it the seventh largest city in the country. In Nyíregyháza, there is a Roman Catholic and a Protestant Reformed Church, also a Greek Catholic College ( established in 1909 ). The city is the largest Hungarian city without a university.

Geographical location

Nyíregyháza is located not far from the Slovak, Romanian and the Ukrainian border. In the vicinity is the earlier inhabited by many Germans region of Satu Mare.

Structures

In Nyíregyháza is the oldest radio mast in Hungary. It was built in 1925 and is 119 meters high.

Transport links

The M3 motorway from Budapest leads directly to Nyíregyháza (M 36). InterCity and express trains there to Budapest, Miskolc and Others
