Nyyrikki

Nyyrikki is in the Finnish epic Kalevala, a friendly demon hunting, son of Tapio forest demon and the Mielikki and brother of Tellervo.

As Lemminkäinen of Louhi receives the order to kill the elk of Hiisi, asks Lemminkäinen Nyyrikki to set markers to show him as the way. Lemminkäinen describes Nyyrikki in its literal speech as a man with red cap.

Nyyrikki is also associated with the figure of King Nimrod, the grandson of the legendary Noah from the Old Testament, which, in contrast to Nyyrikki but often negative characteristics are attributed. Also in the Hungarian mythology there is a comparable hunting demon Ménrót.

Nyyrikki is also a Finnish male ( rarely female ) first name.
