O (Cyrillic)

The О ( minuscule о ) is a letter of the Cyrillic alphabet. In the Russian alphabet 's 16th letter. There, the О stands at the beginning of a word and before a consonant for the sound [ o]. Because of vowel reduction (see Russian phonetics ), the О take different sounds in unstressed syllables, such as [ ɐ ] or [ ə ].

The letter comes from the Greek Omicron and is also found in the usual in many parts of Europe Latin Alphabet its counterpart (see O). All three letters are identical in their appearance here.
