Obdam

Obdam ( listen? / I ) is a former municipality in the Dutch province of North Holland, which lies at an altitude of about 0 m NAP. On 1 January 2007 it was merged with Wester- Koggenland the new community Koggenland.

It lies about 35 km north of Amsterdam on the railway line between Alkmaar and Hoorn good 10 km to the west 9 km east; the next A7 and A9 are just as far away.

The community is still predominantly agricultural, although by now, of course, most of the inhabitants are employed in industry and in the service of the neighboring cities.

Previously Tourism plays hardly an economic role, not least because there are no significant landmarks in the community.
