North crashes the Upper Gottesackerwände

The Upper Gottesackerwände are a mountain in the Allgäu Alps, with the highlights of 2033 m and 2016 m than the west summit as eastern summit, called the corner of the net.

Location

The wall of the upper level Gottesackerwände extends in a width of about four miles nearly east-west direction and closes the Gottesackerplateau from north. Appended to the west are still the subordinate summit of Monte Cavallo (1985 m) and Hirscheck (1922 m). In the course of pulling the upper Gottesackerwände in an arc to the north of the Moravia height (1703 m) to the valley of Rubach. Main peak and the eastern summit are separated by the Torkopfscharte (1968 m). North of the Torecks extends the Torkopf (1930 m) up in front. Between the Upper and Lower cemetery walls to the north lies the separating Windeck saddle (1751 m). In the south, the Gottesackerplateau follows the massif of the High Ifens with another wall step follows. Therefore, the massif of the High Ifens and the cemetery plateau counts along with the cemetery walls to the peculiar massifs of the Alps.

Origin of the name

A Wolfsegger Archive 1693 describes a graveyard Wundt ... Under Gotsackher wall. In Blasius Hueber Vorarlberg card is 1783 God's Acre B and 1797 mentioned in the sheet 105 Schmitt'schen card Gotsacker. It was named after the Karst area south of lying, the Gottesackerplateau, which has the meaning of God's Acre Cemetery. Reason for naming could have been the solitude of the plateau.

Ascent

On the Upper Gottesackerwände leads no marked path. The burr height can be achieved not difficult at present sure-footedness of the Torkopfscharte.

On the corner of the net, leads a popular ski tour from Mahdtalhaus. In the 1990s, the exit was blocked by the Mahdtal at the instigation of hunting. Mountaineers associations have the opening of a road departure achieved by a forest zone to Mahdtalhaus, but often ausapert and is difficult to drive on. This route was marked environmentally friendly ski mountaineering in the course of the project.
