History

Obermeitingen belonged to the monastery of Waterloo. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark, which was repealed in 1803 with the monastery. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Here called death march was from August 1944 to "evacuate " in April 1945, the camp IX of the outer bearing group Landsberg / Buy Ring of the Dachau concentration camp.
