Obra (Hindi: ओबरा, Obara ) is a town in Sonbhadra district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It lies on the banks of the Son River, a tributary of the Ganges, at about 170 m altitude. At the 2001 census Obra had 52,398 inhabitants, of which 55 % are men and 45 % women. 11 % of the population were younger than six years.
Economy
Obra is the site of a coal power plant with 13 blocks and a total of 1550 MW and a hydroelectric power plant with a maximum output of 99 MW.
