Observer status

The observer status describes the state of a person belonging to a body or an institution as an observer. This learns what the committee decides, and can also be argued. However, she has no decision-making powers.

For example, Germany and France have sent emissaries in each other's Cabinet who have observer status.

Observer status at the United Nations

At present, the Holy See and Palestine have observer status as a non-member state at the United Nations, which allows them to participate as observers in the work of the General Assembly and to have a permanent observer mission at the UN headquarters. Palestine state was revalued on 29 November 2012 from an observing entity to an observing non-member State.

Since 1946, shortly after the founding of the United Nations on 24 October 1945, until her accession on 10 September 2002, Switzerland had observer status at precisely this.

Sovereign Order of Malta has as an original non-state subjects of international law since August 24, 1994, status of Permanent Observer at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
