Obsolete (English for " Deprecated " ) is the third studio album by the American heavy metal band Fear Factory. The album was released on 28 July 1998 via Roadrunner Records. The album continues the concept album series of the band, with the release of Demanufacture began in 1995.

Style

In addition to the industrial metal bonds that were already heard on the previous Demanufacture found at Obsolete and alternative metal elements - for example, the scratching in the title Edgecrusher.

Single releases

Shock, Descent, Resurrection and the Gary Numan cover Cars were published between 1998 and 1999 as singles.

Reception

Greg Prato wrote on allmusic.com that would deliver with Fear Factory Obsolete once again with the "Ministry -meets- Slayer - Sound", for which they are known, but this combined with a reasonable level of experimentation. This is being done for example by the use of violins, cellos and violas. Prato, awarded the album four out of five stars.
