Ockrilla is a municipality in the district of Meißen Niederau. With 633 inhabitants, it is to Niederau the next largest village of the municipality.

Location

Ockrilla is located about 4 km north- east of Meissen on the federal road 101 Great grove.

History

On a trade settled in 1205 the first human beings and called this place Ocrul. The place had over the centuries several inns at peak were counted 14 pieces at the same time in Ockrilla. Today, only one left.

From 1986 to 1996, the municipality Ockrilla included in addition the neighboring villages Jessen and Gröbern. Since 1994 Ockrilla belongs to the municipality Niederau.
