Octocrilen also octocrylene, is a chemical compound, which is used as sunscreens in cosmetics use. It is an oily, clear yellow liquid which is not miscible with water.

Octocrilen absorbs light mainly in the UV -B and little in the short- wave UV -A region. The filter effect is not very strong. Octocrilen is always used in combination with other filter materials, and it also increases the photostability of specific UV -A filter and stabilizes their protective action in the sequence. Suppressing, after application to the skin possible recrystallization dissolved UV filter substances. Octocrilen itself is photostable and non-irritating to use.
