Odakyū Tama Line

The Tama - line (Japanese多 摩 线, Tama - sen) is a operated by the Japanese private Odakyu Dentetsu railway. The 10.6 km long route runs between the stations Shin- Yurigaoka and Karakida in the Tokyo area.

The track is used particularly by commuters from the Tama New Town in the direction of Tokyo, so that a plurality of trains is bound on the Odawara Line to Shinjuku.

History

The first section of Tama - line between the stations Shin- Yurigaoka and Odakyu - Nagayama was put into operation on 1 June 1974. Just one year later, the extension followed at the center of Tama New Town with the Tama Center Station. These sections were constructed by the state Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency ( JRTT ). Odakyu had to repay the operator of the track infrastructure costs in installments. Although the entire route was performed two tracks, only limited by bottlenecks on the Odawara Line, it was the beginning of operation possible to bind a variety of features of the Tama Line to Shinjuku. This situation changed only in 2000, when the Odawara line was substantially expanded.

On March 27, 1990, it was opened on the Tama - line with the Karikida station the last station yet.
