Oddvar Saga

Oddvar Saga ( * January 2, 1934, † 2000) was a Norwegian ski jumper.

Career

Saga, who competed for the Horten SK, started at the Four Hills Tournament 1961/62 for his first international tournament. Already at the opening event on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf, he surprised the competition with the third rank. It remained the highest individual score of the tour. In Garmisch -Partenkirchen and Innsbruck, he landed outside the top 20 only in Bischofshofen on the Paul Ausserleitner ski jump he landed in eighth place back in the top ten. In the overall standings, he was the best Norwegian with 830.4 points the 61st place.

Saga was one of the favorites for later, the Norwegian team at the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck. However, Torgeir Brandtzæg Toralf Engan, Bjørn Wirkola, Hans Olav Sørensen and Thorbjørn Yggeseth got the priority and started for Norway.

1993 reported the Aftenposten, the saga next Ole Colbjørnsen and a wolf on the three " great Norwegian personalities " from Vegårshei belonged.
