The National II Mechnikov University of Odessa (Russian Одесский национальный университет имени И И Мечникова, .. Ukrainian Одеський національний університет імені І.І. Мечникова ) is a university in the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa. Today, it is named after the Russian zoologist Ilya I. Mechnikov and anatomist.

The Mechnikov University is one of the oldest and most important universities of Ukraine. It consists of 10 faculties and four institutes and has next to several locations in Odessa itself also facilities in Odessa suburb Iljitschowsk and in the city of Nikolayev. The university includes the observatory Odessa and one of the largest academic libraries in Ukraine.

The university was founded in 1865 by an edict of Tsar Alexander II and initially carried the name Imperatorskij Noworossijskij Universitet. It was created from the former Lycée Richelieu in Odessa.
