The Odet is a river in France, in the department of Finistère, in the Brittany region runs. It springs ( German: Schwarze Berge ) on the Montagnes Noires, in the municipality of Saint- Goazec. The Odet drained generally southwest, crosses the gorge by Stan gala and ends after 62 kilometers at Benodet ( Breton: Ben of mouth, so the mouth of the Odet ) in a wide funnel into the Atlantic.

The catchment area of the river corresponds to the Pays Glazig in Cornwall. His white-water character created - like most Breton rivers - in autumn and winter floods, the effect of intensified urbanization and soil sealing, as well as the leveling of agricultural soils (destruction of the embankment since the 1960s ).

After the Odet - besides Benodet - the community Briec -de- l'Odet named, and it was during the French Revolution, the city of Quimper, who was still Montagne- sur- Odet said.

Shipping

The 20 km long estuary of the Odet, Benodet is above a wooded gorge, which can be negotiated as a tourist attraction at high tide with boats. Shipping is possible to Quimper. Below Quimper a commercial port ( Port de Corniguel ) was built with 500 meters of quay for smaller vessels.
