Odori ebi

Odori ebi (Japanese踊り 蝦, dt "dancing shrimp " ) is a Japanese sashimi - live preparation ( Ikizukuri ).

This dish contains surviving baby shrimp, still move their legs and antennae. The court must be prepared quickly so that the shrimp live when serving yet. They are usually immersed in sake, to stun them. It then dips the live lobster at the table in a special dipping sauce and then quickly bites into the animal to kill it.

Since shrimp are not vertebrates, does not meet the preparation of Odori ebi under German law the offense of cruelty to animals.
