Oeneus

Oineus (Greek Οἰνεύς, latin Oeneus ) was in Greek mythology, king of Calydon in Aetolia Pleuron and is said to have first planted the mountains Ätoliens with vines. He married Althaea, with whom he had three children: Tydeus, Meleager and Deianeira. The son of Tydeus is attributed by some sources Oineus ' second wife Periboea.

Once he forgot to sacrifice to Artemis, so she sent a huge boar that ravaged the land upon which the so-called Calydonian hunt was organized. According to a later tell him the sons of his brother Agrios stole his throne and his freedom. His grandson Diomedes, son of Tydeus, killed for the Agrios and his sons, handed the throne of his son- Oineus Andrämon and took with Oineus to Argos.
