Oerel

Oerel is a municipality in the Lower Saxon Geestequelle in the district of Rotenburg ( Wümme). In addition to the main town includes the villages of Oerel Barchel and Glindemann to the community.

History

Oerel, written up in the 19th century also Oehrel, was first mentioned as 937 Urhala or Vrlaha documented. This is a deed of gift of King Otto I ( later Emperor Otto the Great ) to the Abbey of Magdeburg.

Incorporations

Culture and sights

The Anglo-Saxon missionary Willehadus not only founded the cathedral in Bremen, but probably also a Betkirche in Oerel.
