Of Monsters and Men

Of Monsters and Men is ( for english by monsters and humans), an Icelandic band from Keflavík and Gardabær. Her style is assigned to the indie rock and is often compared to that of Arcade Fire.

History

The band - at that time as a quartet with Nanna, Raggi, Brynjar and Arnar - won the 2010 national band competition Músiktilraunir. After the competition, Árni and Kristján were added as an additional band members. During their performances they are also usually supported by the trumpeter Ragnhildur Gunnarsdóttir, but so far not one of the official members of the band. In October 2011, Of Monsters and Men occurred during the music festival Iceland Airwaves, inter alia, in the new Harpa Reykjavík Concert Hall on.

For the release of their first album, the band signed a contract in February 2011 with Record Records in Iceland. In March 2011, she recorded her debut album in the studio Sýrland on in Reykjavik. In August 2011, Philadelphia radio station 104.5 began in the U.S. to play the title Little Talks and made the band known as across the country.

This song is considered the band in 2011 for several weeks at number 1 of the Icelandic singles chart. Their debut album, My Head Is an Animal was released in September 2011 in Iceland and was released in April 2012 on the American market where it is on the Billboard 200 reached its all-time high rank of an Icelandic band or artist with sixth place. An EP Into the Woods with four selected tracks of the album was released in December 2011.

Due to their success in Iceland and its growing popularity in the U.S., the band for a worldwide release of their album signed a contract with Universal. Her song Dirty Paws, from the text and the album title is borrowed, was played The Amazing Life of Walter Mitty from the year 2013 in the trailer for the movie and the song Silhouettes is part of the soundtrack of the film The Hunger Games - Catching Fire.

In 2013 they were awarded with the European Border Breakers Award ( EBBA ).

Appearances

Of Monsters and Men 2012 played concerts in North America and some European countries, including Ireland, Germany, Italy and Sweden.
