Official Charts Company

The Official Charts Company ( formerly known as the Chart Information Network and The Official UK Charts Company) is an institution which publishes several official music charts in the United Kingdom, including the album and singles charts, the download charts, as well as genre - specific charts. Also, the Official Charts Company, publisher of the Scottish album and singles charts, each of which lists the best-selling recorded music in Scotland. The OCC has been some time out and the Welsh charts. Since May 2012, the OCC publishes the UK Streaming Charts, which is calculated from the number of streams from multiple vendors such as Deezer, Spotify, Napster and We7.

The Official Charts Company published since 1 July 1997, the official music charts in the UK, but under the name of Chart Information Network. However, the oldest chart publications date back to the year 1952. These were published by the New Musical Express. Authority to determine the chart lists are the British Phonographic Industry (BPI ) and the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA ).

The OCC based its publications by collecting and combining all sales data from retailers through market researchers Millward Brown Company. The Official Charts Company claimed more than 90 percent of the national music market cover ( 99 percent of single releases and 95 percent of all album releases ). The OCC evaluates mainly from dealers who sell every week more than 100 recordings in a week.

Classic FM introduced both a ranking for classical music as well as conferred annually Classic FM Hall of Fame. Even the radio station BBC Radio 3 introduced a ranking for classical music, which is updated every Tuesday.
