Ofis publik ar Brezhoneg
The public Ofis ar Brezhoneg (French Office de la langue public Bretonne, dt Office of the Breton language ) is an organization which was founded on 1 May 1999 and has set as its main objective the preservation of the Breton language and culture.
Task
An object of this organization is to develop sociolinguistic and geographically to watch - ( Arsellva ar Brezhoneg - Observatory of the Breton language ). In addition, the organization has received the TermBret, ie, that it is preparing dictionaries, books and maps in the Breton language and new terminology.
The Breton
The organization is committed to the promotion of the Breton language not only in children and adolescents in various education institutions, but also to the development of language in the parent generation with course offerings. Already in the years 1998-1999 attended such courses approximately 9,300 adult part. But also through organized correspondence (eg via the Internet) or through internships taught you the Breton language. However, not only courses in Brittany are offered, but also 28 courses, of which 15 alone in the Paris area, outside.
In 2003, the Ofis ar Brezhoneg issued a Breton Road Map Brittany ( 5 departments).
Financing and organizing
The organization, which is an independent association, has an average budget of 1 million euros, here mainly the Brittany and Loire -Atlantique are donors.
