Ogden Nash

Frederic Ogden Nash ( born August 19, 1902 in Rye, New York, † May 19, 1971 in Baltimore, Maryland) was an American poet who was a popular poet in the United States especially through his limericks.

Ogden Nash was the son of an entrepreneur who made his money with import-export transactions. Due to business needs of the father's family experienced numerous residence. 1920 Nash was admitted to Harvard University, but the elite university left after one year, to lash out with odd jobs through life.

1931 Ogden Nash published a first volume of poems, which immediately earned him the recognition of the American public. 1932 Nash wrote two lyrics for a Broadway Revue for the first time. His most famous song work was created in 1943. Together with the composer Kurt Weill and librettist SJ Perelman, he wrote the musical One Touch of Venus. The premiere took place on October 7, 1943 and witnessed to 1945 567 performances.

Ogden Nash was married from 1931 until his death with Frances Rider Leonard and father of two children.
