OGK-6

OGK -6 (Russian ОГК -6, full name Оптовая генерирующая компания № 6, English The Sixth Generation Company of the Wholesale Electricity Market ) is an energy company from Russia, headquartered in Moscow.

OGK -6 employs nearly 6900 employees ( 2009). The company's turnover in 2009 amounted to 41.8 billion rubles ( about 1 billion euros ), the profit before tax of 2.8 million rubles ( approximately EUR 70 million ).

The company was formed on 17 May 2005, first with headquarters in the southern Russian Rostov-on- Don. The majority of OGK -6 shares was initially held by the Russian company Unified Energy System. After the split in the summer of 2008 holds its successor company, the Federal Network Agency, still 9.6% of the shares. Meanwhile, Gazprom through its subsidiary centers Ergo Holding the largest shareholder ( 50.29% as at 30 June 2010). In April 2010 it was reported about plans of Gazprom to merge this OGK- 6 with the OGK- 2, in which it also holds the majority of shares.

From the OGK -6 following thermal power plants are in operation with a total capacity of 9025 megawatts:

  • Kirishi - 2100 MW; Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast; in operation since 1965 ( first block) / 1975 ( last block )
  • Krasnoyarsk - 2-1250 MW; Zelenogorsk, Krasnoyarsk; 1961/1983
  • Novocherkassk - 2112 MW; Novocherkassk ( Donskoi ), Rostov Oblast; 1965/1972
  • Ryazan - 2650 MW; Nowomitschurinsk, Ryazan Oblast; 1973/1981 GRES - 24-310 MW; Nowomitschurinsk, Ryazan Oblast; 1990 ( originally independent, since November 2008 working part of the power plant Ryazan )
