Ogrodno

Ogrodno ( German name: Kavelsberg ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the municipality Połczyn -Zdrój ( Bad Polzin ) in a circle Świdwin ( Schivelbein ).

Geographical Location

Ogrodno located in the northern area of ​​the Drawski Landscape Park ( Landscape Park Pomerania ) and is adjacent to the scenic " Five Lakes area ." The distance to Połczyn -Zdrój ( Bad Polzin ) is five kilometers on a side street about Ogartówko ( New Jagertow ). In Połczyn -Zdrój is also the nearest railway station on the route Świdwin ( Schivelbein ) - Grzmiąca ( Gramenz ).

Place name

The name is from the Kavelsberg Kaveln = strip of land parcels on the mountain - derived, although it is unclear whether Kavel is a German or a Wendish word. Probably the Wendish origin, because there is Kawel = item, share or lot ( verkaweln = giving away ).

History

Kavelsberg was formerly part of the manor Jagertow (Polish: Ogartowo ). Between 1831 and 1835 lords of the manor Bauck leased a 444 acre bush area in each parcel and thereby founded the colony Gavelsberg. In 1906 she is an independent municipality under the name Kavelsberg.

In 1939 207 residents were reported in 49 households in the 460.4 acres community. There were 29 large and medium-sized farms, in which 199 people were employed.

Kavelsberg belonged until 1945 with the communities Brutzen ( Brusno ) and (large) Poplow ( Popielewo ) for official and civil registry district (large) Poplow district Belgard ( Persante ). The local court was in Bad Polzin. The police violence was the Oberland hunters in Bramstädt ( Toporzyk ).

On March 3, 1945, Russian troops of Great Poplow Coming invaded Kavelsberg. Four farms and the school were immediately set on fire. The local population was expelled. Kavelsberg came into Polish hands and under the name Ogrodno part of Gmina Połczyn -Zdrój in powiat Świdwiński.

Church

Kavelsberg had no church of their own. God's place of employment was the St. Mary's Church in Bad Polzin, whose parish included the village. It was in the church Belgard county in Pomerania church of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union. Last German minister was Pastor Hans Paust.

Today Ogrodno belongs to the parish of Koszalin ( Koszalin ) in the Diocese of Pomerania - Greater Poland the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland.

School

The Kavelsberger schoolhouse was built in 1894 of red brick. A teacher's house was integrated into the building. 1928 were enrolled in school here 16 boys and 33 girls. On 3 March 1945, the schoolhouse was shot by Russian soldiers on fire, which also led by local teachers in local chronicle was destroyed.
