Ohalo II is an early epi - Palaeolithic site in Israel. It is located on the shores of the Sea of ​​Galilee and was apparently flooded shortly after their abandonment, which resulted in an excellent preservation of organic remains.

Age

The site is dated with 14C cal 20500-18500 BP, corresponding to 18550-16550 BC, in the last glacial maximum.

Nature

The settlement consisted of a series of oval huts made of thin branches that have been emerging as a dark discoloration. My floor was covered with grass. Outside were fire places where flint processing took place. The botanical remains to show the wide range of plants that have been collected, including wild cereals, acorns and nuts.

Excavations

The site was discovered in 1989 and has since been excavated by a team from the University of Haifa. Excavations are possible only at low water (dry years). The site is approximately 1500 m2, of which 325 were excavated to 1994 m2.
