Ohlsdorf

Ohlsdorf is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Gmunden Traun in the district with 4942 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Gmunden.

Geography

Ohlsdorf is located on 538 m altitude in Traun quarter. The expansion is 5.7 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 7.7 km. The total area is 27.9 km ². 21.9 % of the area is forested, 64.9 % of the area is used for agriculture.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Ehrendorf, Ehrenfeld, harbor village, Nathalie, Ohlsdorf and Rittham.

Neighboring communities

In the north and west Ohlsdorf borders the district Vöcklabruck, to the communities Desselbrunn, or Regau, in the southwest it borders on Pinsdorf, to the south of Gmunden. The eastern boundary is the River Traun. Here Ohlsdorf borders Laakirchen and Gschwandt.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times.

Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Demographics

The community currently has 4,725 inhabitants ( 2008). Since the 1950s, the population increased more than in the district of Gmunden in Upper Austria.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Split; hanging right in a silver blue, silver bells on a bar ( " yoke " ) bell with a silver lace; left in silver, a red bar, topped with a silver, broken with a right step bar, top bar, three red six-pointed stars, below a red, eight-pointed star. The municipality colors are blue and white.

The coat of arms was granted in 1977. The bell indicates that the branch church in Aurachkirchen probably the oldest bells in the Diocese of Linz houses that date back to around 1280. The red bar with the stars comes from the family coat of arms of a branch of Thalheimer, whose headquarters was in Unterthalham.

Culture and sights

Museums:

  • Thomas Bernhard House: Over 15 years, the Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard has restored the 1965 acquired farm house in Obernathal No.2 with great care. ( Open Easter to October on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 14.00-18.00 clock )
  • In radio museum in Feichtlgut: is shown a large number of radio stations from all decades.
  • The first European motorcycle trial museum displays a picture gallery in the world and European champion of the sport until 1980 Trial with the corresponding Motorcycle and historic Trial films.
  • The key is a private museum exhibition, which presents many types of keys in a small room

Traffic

Railway: The ÖBB station Aurachkirchen is served by regional trains of the Salzkammergutbahn of Puchheim after Stainach - Irdning. The turnout of the station is mostly used for train crossings.
