OICETS

Kirari (Japaneseきらりfor sparkle ), also OICETS (Optical Inter -orbit communications engineering test satellite) called, is a 570 kg heavy Japanese technology test satellite for optical data transmission ( Laser Communication Terminal ) to a Dnepr rocket on 23 August 2005 from Baikonur brought out to a near-earth orbit of 600 km altitude.

About Laser he traded in the near infrared range ( 800 nm wavelength) with about 40,000 km from the Artemis satellite data. Likewise, he could talk to him conventionally via radio on the S- band. On 7 June 2006 also succeeded in optical communication with a mobile earth station of the DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen.

The mission was originally planned for a year, but Kirari worked for four years until it was shut down on 24 September 2009.
