Oil can

An oil can is a mostly closed container for lubricating oil, which is often used for technical maintenance.

It assists in lubrication of bearings and at the same time preserves the lubricant so that it is available in the short term, and any small amounts, if necessary. The lubrication points usually require very little oil. For hard to reach areas is often an extended spout available.

Pre-measured amounts of lubricant are switched on or refilled by an oil can into the reservoir of a machine. An example of this is the oil change during the combustion engine, which often gets new engine oil with an oil can.

Usually an oil can is made of sheet metal or plastic and summarizes amounts between 0.2 and 5 liters.
