Ola Bratteli

Ola Bratteli ( born October 24, 1946 in Oslo) is a Norwegian mathematician.

Ola Bratteli studied since 1967 Mathematics at the University of Oslo, was 1971-1973 Research Fellow at New York University and in 1974 received his doctorate with a thesis on "Inductive limits of finite dimensional C * - algebras " under Erling Størmer at the University of Oslo. After several short stays at other universities, he became in 1980 a professor at the Norwegian Institute of Technology and has taught since 1991 at the University of Oslo.

The Bratteli diagrams for the study of AF C *-algebras associated with his name. His father was the Norwegian Prime Minister Trygve Bratteli.
