Olaf Hoffsbakken

Olaf Hoffsbakken ( born September 2, 1908 in Snertingdal, † November 23, 1986 in Gjøvik ) was a Norwegian Nordic skier.

Hoffsbakken, who started for Snertingdal IL, finished sixth in the individual Nordic combined at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1934 in Sollefteå. A year later, at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1935 in Vysoke Tatry he was able to improve on fourth place and missed so only just a medal. However, in cross-country skiing he won in the relay silver medal. In Garmisch -Partenkirchen he could both in the Nordic combined and with the 4x10 -kilometer cross-country relay team win the silver medal at the 1936 Winter Olympics. In the Norwegian Championships in 1937, he won the title in the Nordic combined and cross-country skiing on 18 km. In the same year he received the Holmenkollen medal together with Birger Ruud and Martin P. Vangsli.

At the World Championships 1938 in Lahti he won the title in the Nordic combined.
