The Mount of Olives height in the resin is a 320.6 meter high foothills of the mountain range Ramberg at Bad Suderode, in Saxony-Anhalt Harz district.

Geographical location

The Mount of Olives height is located in the Harz Nature Park / Saxony- Anhalt North foothills of the granite massif Ramberg. It rises just south of Bad Suderode and slightly southwest of Gernrode (both are districts of Quedlinburg ) between the Kältetalbach the west and the Hagentalbach in the east. Its northern spur is slightly lower Schwedderberg.

Prussia tower

On the mountain spur Schwedderberg the first time in 1845 an observation tower was built - called Prussia Tower ( ⊙ 51.72383333333311.119041666667 ). The second tower, which was 12 m high, was there from 1885 to the 1940s and has since become dilapidated, after the Second World War (1939-1945 ) was made into firewood.

In 1953, a new tower, the Thomas -Müntzer - tower, built of timber, which again means Prussia tower since 1991 and was renovated in 2007. From its located approximately at the level of the treetops viewing platform overlooking the falls, among others, to Bad Suderode, Gernrode and Ballenstedt, in the Harz mountains with Quedlinburg and Halberstadt behind it and also the 36 km distant chunks; on the platform, there is a direction board for orientation.

Hiking

Over the north slope of Mount of Olives height and Schwedderberg runs in the section Bad Suderode - Gernrode the European long-distance hiking trail E11. This road crossing to get from the spa gardens in Bad Suderode coming at a fairly steep route on both surveys and thus to Prussia tower. The tower is included as No. 185 in the system of stamp locations of the Harz hiking pin.
