Old Falkenstein Castle

History

The castle was probably built during the reign of the German emperor Henry IV. Architect was the Swabian priest and later Bishop Benno II of Osnabrück. After the Battle of Welfesholz on February 11, 1115, the castle was dragged under the leadership of the Saxon Duke Lothar of Süpplingenburg and never rebuilt. Description
