The Old German Shepherd Dog is a breed of dog that was developed from the long-haired version of the German Shepherd Dog. He is not recognized as a breed by the FCI. Since 2010, next to the type long double coat is recognized as a variant of the German Shepherd.

Origin and History

The term Old German Shepherd German Shepherds is mostly referred with longer guard hairs today in common parlance. This is grown in different associations.

Description

The appearance is similar to the of the German Shepherd, but his fur is long with soft undercoat. He has long fur, so-called flags, ears, legs and bushy tail, the legs a significant trousers and neck mane. The colors are the same as in German shepherd dogs.

Nature

Its essence is similar to the German Shepherd dog with a shorter stick hair.

Use

Like the German Shepherd, he is used as protection, utility, herding and companion dog.
