Oldřich Vlasák
Oldrich Vlasák (born 26 November 1955 in Hradec Králové ) is a Czech politician ( ODS). He is a member of the European Parliament and there since January 18, 2012 Vice President since 2004.
Vlasák visited the Faculty of Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague and became an engineer at the Institute for Technology and Environment. He worked as a research assistant at the Research Institute for Food and cooling technology and Kovoprojekt in Prague. From 1989 to 1993 he was director of Bohemian Waste Management, after which he was until 1998 Director of East Bohemian Airport. He was also a volunteer mountain rescue.
Vlasák was a longtime member of the Executive Council of the ODS. In 1994 he was first elected to the town council of Hradec Králové. From 1998 to 2004 he was mayor of his hometown. He was also Chairman of the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic where he is responsible for cooperation with foreign countries. In 2004 he was first elected to the European Parliament.
Prior to the Czech Republic's accession to the European Union Vlasák was chairman for the NUTS II Northeast Region and a member of the Committee of the Regions. In 2000 he was Executive Chairman of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions. Since 2006 he is member of the International association of local authorities, moreover, it belongs to the World Federation of United Cities and Local Authorities on.
MEPs
Period 2009-2014 Vlasák is in the European Conservatives and Reformists Group and one of the Vice- President of the European Parliament. He is a member of the Bureau of the European Parliament, the Committee on Regional Development and the Delegation to the ACP -EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. As a deputy, he is in the Committee on Transport and Tourism, in the Delegation for relations with the Mercosur countries and in the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly.
