Ole Jacob Bangstad

Ole Jacob Bangstad (* April 9, 1927, † June 2, 2010 in Bærum ) is a Norwegian Biathlon functionary and senior military.

Bangstad was a long time president of the Biathlon Association ( 1960-72 ) within the Norwegian Sports Association, whose president, he was also from 1973 to 1984. In addition, he has long been represented in international bodies. From 1965 to the end of 1976 Bangstad was a member of the Executive Committee of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon ( UIPMB ), the predecessor organization of the International Biathlon Union ( IBU ). He was an honorary member of the IBU.

Bangstad who lives in Eiksmarka until his retirement was a member of the Norwegian Armed Forces. Most recently, he held the rank of major general. From 1971 to 1979 he was inspector general of the Norwegian army.
