The confluence of the olefin and the Urft in Sarreguemines

Geography

The olefin originates in Aspen forest, about 2.2 km south-west of Hollerath at an altitude of 639 m above sea level. NHN, directly on the border with Belgium. From here it flows first in a northwesterly direction, crossing the border and flows through the Three Men forest. After about 1.8 km further the Olef reached the border again, which then runs to the confluence of Meadow brook on the river. The river changes it in a wide arc its flow direction towards the east.

In the following section the olefin flows through the forest Schleiden and is dammed to Oleftalsperre before Hellenthal. In Hellenthal right side opens the coming from the southwest Platißbach. On the outskirts of Hellenthal in Cherry Seiffen, the river turns to the north. On the northern outskirts of Blumenthal right side opens the Reifferscheider Bach. Other towns along the river are Oberhausen, Schleiden, olefin, Nierfeld and Sarreguemines. Here ends the olefin to 334 m above sea level. NHN left side in the Urft.

On its 27.9 km long road which Olef overcomes a difference in altitude of 335 m, corresponding to an average bed slope of 12 ‰. She drains an area of 196.073 km ²
