Oļegs Znaroks

Oļegs Znaroks (Russian Олег Валерьевич Знарок / Oleg Valeryevich Snarok; born January 2, 1963 in Ust- Katav, Russian SFSR ) is a former Latvian ice hockey player with a German passport, approved in Germany for the EV Landsberg, EHC Freiburg and Heilbronner EC on the ice stood. Since end of his career he has worked as a trainer and has been a head coach in the summer of 2008 Kontinental Hockey League, first with the HK MVD Balaschicha, then the OHK Dynamo, since 2012 at HK Dynamo Moscow.

Career

As a player

Oļegs Znaroks began his career with his hometown club HC Traktor Chelyabinsk, for their first team from 1982 he also Wysschaja in the league, the highest Soviet ice hockey league, was playing. In 1983 he moved to Dinamo Riga in the hometown of his parents, where he was active in the following seven years.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Znaroks decided how many former Eastern Bloc player for a move to North America, where he completed some games for the Maine Mariners in the American Hockey League. Due to lack of prospects for the striker but soon returned to Riga. For the 1992/93 season the links Sagittarius signed a contract with the German Oberliga EV Landsberg, with which he ascended to the 2nd Bundesliga the following year. After two more seasons at Bayern Znaroks moved in 1995 to league rivals EHC Freiburg, for which he stood until the end of the 1999/00 season on the ice. In his last season with the " wolves " was the sandal with 84 points scorer of the Bundesliga 2. Then Znaroks spent two seasons at Heilbronner EC, whose first officially voted " Player of the Year " in 2001 he was. According to the 2000 /01 season, the attacker ended his active career.

Internationally

With the Soviet U20 national Oļegs Znaroks won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championship in 1981 and was also elected to the All- Star team of the tournament. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the attacker played for Latvia, which he represented from 1995 to 1999 in four World Cups.

As a coach

Since his retirement from competitive sports Znaroks worked as a hockey coach. From 2006, he initially managed the Latvian national team as head coach. In the 2007 /08 season he was head coach of the U20 national team, which participated as SK LSPA / Riga on game operation of the first Latvian league. In the summer of 2008, he took over as coach at HK MVD Balaschicha, where he stood with Harijs Vītoliņš another Lette as co- trainers. In the 2009/10 season, he was vice-champion of the KHL with the HK MVD. After this success, the HK MVD merged with the HK Dynamo Moscow for OHK Dynamo, where Znaroks continues to work as a head coach.

On April 25, 2012, he led the team in the decisive seventh game of the final series with a 1-0 victory over the HK Avangard Omsk to win the Gagarin Cup. After the season Znaroks won Best coach of the KHL season. A year later he repeated this success with Dynamo and was subsequently re- named the best coach of the KHL.
