Olexander Chyrkov

Alexánder Semjónovitsch Chirkov (Ukrainian Олександр Семенович Чиркóв; born 1 November 1941 in Kamyshin, Volgograd Oblast, USSR) is a Ukrainian literary critic, essayist, the Chair of German and world literature and the Head of the Scientific and Artistic Complex " dramaturgy " at the Institute for foreign -language philology at the National Ivan Franko University Zhytomyr, member of the Academy of Sciences of the universities of Ukraine.

Chirkov has made ever earned primarily by its Bertolt Brecht research and studies on the poetics of the epic drama and the essence of drama and theater. After his 2008 initiative, the Brecht - center was established at the Institute of Foreign Language Studies at the National Ivan Franko University Zhytomyr. With the crucial support of the Bertolt Brecht Archive in Berlin and especially its director Erdmut Wizisla Brechtian annual readings take place - an international literary conference, which is held by Brecht researchers from Germany, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. Since 2011, the annual philological magazine, " Brecht " booklet, which is founded by Chirkov and scientifically supervised appears.
