Olia Lialina

Olia Lialina ( born May 4, 1971 in Moscow) is a Russian net artist.

In 1993 she finished her studies at the Moscow State University as a graduate journalist.

In her work, My Boyfriend Came Back From The War of 1996, she developed a special narrative technique with the language of the elements of a web browser and is therefore regarded as one of the founders of the genre net.art.

From 1996 to 1998 she was Director of the Cine Fantom Film Club. Since 1999 she is a professor in the field of New Media at the Merz Akademie in Stuttgart.
