Oligyrtos (Greek Ολίγυρτος ) ( m. sg ) is a mountain range, located on the borders of the regions Arcadia, Corinthia and Argolis in the northeast of the Peloponnese in Greece. The mountain range extends from northeast to southwest over about 35 km, with a width of about 25 kilometers. The highest peak is the Skipiza with 1935m. Further surveys are: Gkrimini (1831 m), Parnias (1800 m), Skiathis (1777 m) and Mavrovouni ( 1695 m).

Formation

Due to the subduction of the African plate beneath the Aegean plate, the mountains of the Peloponnese were folded. The Oligyrtos massif forms together with the Kyllini ( Ziria ) and Aroania in the north the northernmost of three mountain bars that divide the Peloponnese. The Northern limit of Oligyrtos is the high level Stymfalia, into which the mountain also drained to the north. This north-facing slopes are forested with Greek fir trees. In the southwest of the Mainalo Mountains lies ( Μαίναλο ), while in the south connects the Trachi Mountains and the Chelmos ( Aroania ) Mountains in the northwest.

Vegetation

The vegetation consists mainly of grassland and phrygana be found in higher layers and stitching or pines. To the south, the streams draining into the level of Kandila.

Colonization

Due to its rugged geography, there are only small villages in the area. the most important are: Stymfalia in the north, and Skoteini Kandila in the south, as well as Levidi and Feneos in the West.
