Oliver Hart (economist)

Oliver D' Arcy Hart ( born October 9, 1948 in London) is an American economist of British origin.

Hart studied mathematics at King's College (Cambridge) and Economics at the University of Warwick. After completing his doctorate at Princeton University, he worked at Churchill College and a professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Since 1984 he has been living in the United States whose nationality he accepted. After working at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he teaches since 1993 at Harvard University. Hart is married and has two children.

His research interests include theory of the firm, contract theory and corporate finance. Hart assumes that contracts are necessarily incomplete, and the property rights of high importance.
