Oliver Hirschbiegel

Oliver Hirschbiegel ( born December 29, 1957 in Hamburg ) is a German film director. His commercially successful works include The experiment and Downfall.

Career

After attending a Waldorf school, Hirschbiegel decided to go to sea as a scullion. Soon, however, he decided to study at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts in painting and graphics. He later moved on to study in film.

Initial successes celebrated Hirschbiegel as a performance artist with the group M. Raskin Stichting, together with Andy Coerper, Rotraut Pape and Eschi Fiege. He was also instrumental in the development of a video magazine called Infermental.

Go to film Hirschbiegel came over his friend, screenwriter Michael Arnal, mediated him as manager for the third season of the television series Losberg. Here Hirschbiegel is also seen in a funny appearance as an Italian gangster Tedesco on the side of Ida di Benedetto and Sky du Mont.

Hirschbiegel produced in the UK and Ireland feature film Five Minutes of Heaven launched on 17 June 2010 in German cinemas and was seen by about 4,000 spectators.
