Oliver Wolcott Gibbs

Oliver Wolcott Gibbs ( born February 21, 1822 in New York City; † December 9, 1908 ) was an American chemist.

Oliver Wolcott Gibbs led from the first Electrogravimetric analysis used by the electrolytic reduction of the copper and nickel ion to the corresponding metals on the quantitative analysis.

Gibbs was a professor of chemistry in 1848, from 1863 to 1887 he was a professor at Harvard University. He worked primarily in the fields of analytical and inorganic chemistry.
