Oliverio Girondo

Oliverio Girondo ( born August 17, 1891 in Buenos Aires, † January 24, 1967 ) was an Argentine journalist and writer.

Girondo came from a very wealthy family. Already in his childhood, he was with his parents on trips, such as he visited Paris 1900 World Expo. Throughout his life he spoke of this stay in Paris because he wanted to be there encountered during a walk Oscar Wilde.

In Paris Girondo visited his parents' wishes, the Lycée Louis -le- Grand and later moved to the Epsom School in London. His subsequent thereto have studying law, he graduated from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and during his semester break, he traveled throughout Central Europe.

In 1922, he was able to successfully debut in Paris as a writer; his first film, a poetry anthology, but he was still overshadowed by Guillaume Apollinaire. In Argentina, he wrote regularly for various newspapers and magazines, such as " Proa ", " prism " and " Martín Fierro ". In the first edition of the latter be known Surrealist Manifesto was read. 1964 Girondo was involved in a traffic accident, he was hit as a pedestrian by a car. In 1967, he died from the after-effects of the accident and found his last resting place in the Recoleta Cemetery in his hometown. The writer Enrique Molina sought to the continued existence of Girondos work and therefore also ended the still unfinished manuscripts.
