Olivier Kahn

Olivier Kahn ( * September 13, 1942 in Paris, † December 8, 1999 ) was a French chemist.

Life

Olivier Kahn was trained at the École nationale supérieure de chimie de Paris for the engineer. He worked in the field of organometallic chemistry, where he completed his doctoral thesis. After two post-doctoral research activities, he became an expert in the field of spectroscopy of transition metals at the University of Paris-Sud in Orsay. He was a co-founder of the department " Molecular Magnetism ".

He was appointed by several universities, an honorary doctorate. An issue of Inorganica Chimica Acta was dedicated to him and the Olivier Kahn International Award named after him. In 1993 he received the Max Planck Research Prize jointly with Philipp Gütlich (University of Mainz).

Kahn was the brother of the journalist Jean -François Kahn, and the geneticist Axel Kahn.
