Olof Hanner

Olof Hanner ( * 1922 in Sweden) is a Swedish mathematician who deals with topology and convex geometry.

Hanner was born in 1952 at Stockholm University PhD ( Rectraction and extension of mappings ) .. 1949 to 1950 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study, where he worked with Hans Rådström. 1963 to 1989 he was professor at the University of Gothenburg.

Besides topology, it dealt with combinatorial game theory with work on the mathematics of Go and Bridge.

In 1956 he introduced the eponymous Hanner polytopes that are defined recursively are (starting with a simple line segment ) and completed with the formation of the Cartesian product and the duality education. Alternatively, they may also be formed with Cartesian product and direct sum. Hanner spaces are finite dimensional Banach spaces with Hanner - polytopes as a unit balls.
