Olomouc language island

The Olomouc linguistic island was a German -speaking enclave within the Czech-speaking areas in Moravia. It included the city of Olomouc and its western and southern suburbs as well as some villages around Olomouc. After the Second World War, which, inter alia, the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia meant the Olomouc linguistic island is under addressed. The expelled Germans from Olomouc and the surrounding area have formed in Nördlingen in Bavaria a home association.
