Olšany (Šumperk District)

Olšany ( German Olleschau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers west of Šumperk and belongs to the Okres Šumperk to.

Geography

Olšany extends between the gold Steiner Bergland ( Branenská Highlands ) and Drosenauer Bergland ( Drozdovská Highlands ) in the valley of the brook Hrůzná Voda, also called Bušínský creek, up to its confluence with the Morava. Through the village leads the state road I/11 Bludov by Cervena Voda. To the east runs along the railway line from the March Hanušovice after Zábřeh or Šumperk, nearest railway stations are Bartoňov and Bohutín. To the north rises the Strážnice (516 m), northeast of the Blýskač (502 m ) in the east of Burdův vrch ( 489 m ) south of the Rozsocha (518 m) and in the northwest the Pustina (626 m).

Neighboring towns are Hartíkov and Doubravice in the north, Truska and Ruda nad Moravou in the northeast, Bartoňov in the east, in the southeast Bohutín, Klášterec and Zborov in the south, Horni Studénky the southwest, Na Horách in the west and Bušín in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Olšany took place in 1386, as Bolik was registered by Olšany in the country table as the owner of the goods. Later the village was connected to the rule Eisenberg.

After the abolition of patrimonial Olšany / Olleschau formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Moravian Schönberg. A turning point in the history of the mountain village, whose inhabitants lived from agriculture and forestry as well as homework, came 1862, when instead of the mill on the Morava below the location of a paper mill was built. The paper mill Olleschau, the first produced writing paper and other fine papers, began in 1870 with the production of cigarette paper; the work became the largest employer in the region. 1873, the railway line from Sternberg was inaugurated by Grulich. In 1905 the mill was k.k. under the name privileged paper industry AG Olleschau converted into a public limited company. One-third of the shares held the paper mill Prosper Piette in Svoboda nad Úpou, the other parts of the kk privileged Austrian Credit-Anstalt for trade and commerce. 1907 bought the paper industry Olleschau AG, which had its headquarters in Prague, on the silk and cigarette paper factory L. & O. Holub in Wattens. The company was the sole supplier of the Imperial Tobacco Monopoly. Was started in 1914 in Olleschau the manufacture of cigarettes stitching and sleeves.

1930 lived 676 people in Olleschau. After the Munich Agreement in 1938, the village was added to the German Reich and belonged until 1945 to the district Moravian Schönberg. 1939 Olleschau 703 inhabitants. After the end of World War II Olšany came back to Czechoslovakia. 1980 Klášterec was incorporated. In 2001, the district Olšany consisted of 156 houses and had 952 inhabitants.

The largest company is the paper mill OP papírna, sro Since 1997 it belongs to the Trierenberg Delfort Holding Group AG.

The municipality consists of the villages Olšany Klášterec ( Klösterle ) and Olšany ( Olleschau ).
