Ölüdeniz is a town 14 km south of Fethiye at the foot of Mount Babadag in the Turkish region of Lycia. The village was originally called Belceğiz, but ultimately got its name from the nearby Ölüdeniz beach. The name translates as Dead Sea because the water of the lagoon in the most time of the year is particularly quiet and has hardly any waves. The sea is at this point, which is also called Blue Lagoon, particularly clear and lights in different turquoise and aquamarine shades. There are parts of both sandy beach as well as sections with gravel, which was partially filled up. The Oludeniz beach was awarded the Blue Flag as a label of water quality. Between April and December, the beach is a very popular destination, and therefore fairly crowded. As a result, the original character of the village has changed a lot. There are now numerous hotels and guesthouses, the very reaching as close to the beach part. Most tourists travel through the nearest airport of Dalaman or Antalya airport. Parts of the beach - especially the sandy beach at the river mouth - are chargeable.

The beach of Ölüdeniz is not only a popular bay, but also known for paragliders. In return, especially the mountain Babadag offers. Also starts from Oludeniz from the Lycian Way, which runs over 509 km on the Lycian coast and ends at Olympos.
