Olympia București

Olympic Bucharest was a Romanian football club from Bucharest. He was the first official Romanian football champions and was able to successfully defend title once.

History

Olympic Bucharest was founded in 1904 by German and Romanian workers from Bucharest factories. Later, also in Bucharest students joined the club. In the first two sweeps of the Romanian Football Championships Olympic was able to win the title in 1910 and 1911. After that, the team gradually fell apart: Some players move to rivals Cole Tina Bucharest, others played better rugby than football. In 1915, the club finally disbanded itself.

After the First World War it took some time before the club was re-established under the name Olimpia in 1921. But until the 1927/28 season (participation in the championship finals ) Olimpia could not build on the previous successes and always failed at the Regional Championship of Bucharest or played in Divizia B or Divizia C. After the Second World War, the club broke finally on.
